After dropping Trixie off at the vets we decided to do some shopping in Insadong and eating in Gwangjang Market in Seoul. We also went out for some beer in Sinchon, where our hotel was.
Our first stop was Insadong. Insadong is a tradition style market in the heart of Seoul. It has some traditional houses and all of the shop names are in Korean. So, the Starbucks is written in Korean and not English letters. It is really cool. Obviously not 100% authentic but it still is a neat little touristy area with a bunch of traditional Korean souvenirs and such. I love the people watching and food from this area the best though. The food is wonderfully traditional. It is great. And the people watching is fantastic. So many people from all over the world. Definitely worth a visit when in Korea.
After Insadong, we went to Gwangjang Market a few blocks away. It was a beautiful night and wonderful weather. Gwangjang Market is a crazy place where you can get traditional Korean street food and different kind of clothing (from traditional Hanbok to cheap wears). There are three sections of different types of food, one with the traditional Korean pancakes, one with seafood, and another with pork. It was great. We drank some makgeolli and ate at one of my boyfriends favorite stalls. The lady running the stall was great. It really was wonderful.
Our final stop was in Sinchon. We went out drinking after we ate in Gwangjang. It was a pretty chill night but the photos my boyfriend took of me were great. He can be useful sometimes. ;) Actually he is pretty great.
Overall our first night in Seoul was great. Trixie was at the vet, but it was still a good day/night.
