Due to the nature of a teacher's dinner and it being my first official night out with the school, everyone was offering me shots of soju. I tried so hard to keep my cup full (which is a sign that you are fine and do not need a drink: culturally if you have an empty cup it means the host is being bad) but it seemed that every other second another teacher would come over and offer me a shot of soju. Some would try and talk to me with the little English they had, while others just said shot soju I no speak English. It was nice though. The principle of the school came over and I offered him a shot of soju, which again is something you do culturally here. He then talked to me a little and proceeded to ask me to do a love shot with him in front of the whole room. It was hilarious and everyone was laughing and clapping. Needless to say I got wasted (had at least 15 shots of soju that I can remember, I am sure there were more). It was great! The next morning everyone was commenting on my drinking ability and saying how I am a heavy drinker and how it was cute and great and so on. Apparently my drinking abilities are amazing because women here don't drink or can't really drink (like Boyoung only had 4 shots of soju and was wasted). They found great pleasure in my drinking abilities and how I act when drunk, so it all worked out I guess. HA!
Today we went to this awesome park and did a tour of the park and saw the Sehando which is a famous Korean painting by Kim Jeong-hui (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kim_Jeong-hui). The park was beautiful and the day was perfect. I quite enjoyed myself, outside of being super tired!
Overall the trip was great and I got to talk to more of the faculty and have an all around great time. Not speaking Korean sucks, so I think I might start taking classes in order to learn. I would love to have a third language under my belt. Just need to find the right class or tutor. :D
